Worried About Extinction?

We humans are very interesting. Neither in a good not in a bad way.
As I learn more about history of the Planet Earth I understand more clearly what is happening right now.
So what is happening?
Global warming or beginning of a new ice age.

Before humans we knew that dinosaurs lived in this planet for 135 million years. Then a meteor hit the planet and most of the species died. Most of them died: their existence stopped being a dominance in the world. Hmm, dominance, that is the word I have been looking for.
So now we are worried about our dominance, not saddened that we are harming the world, killing nature and creating a hole in the ozone layer.

So I don't think that it will be sad when we will come to extinction. Not because of the damage we are causing to the planet and we deserve it, because there will be a time when other kinds of species come to life and it will be their time. -I believe in reincarnation so death should not be a reason of sadness, especially when all of us... It is not an ending.-

But something is still very important: why are we all individually here for, now?
Are you doing what you are supposed to be doing?
Are you fulfilled with your life?

Why don't they teach us why and where we came from in schools?
They don't want open minds. Instead, we learn to be blinded, shut our minds down and be scared to death of anything that might happen. Or be numb and drugged. We don't really "know" but we do everything out of fear, subconsciously. Fear of that one day we will die and we won't get to do everything that we "want" to do and thus we rush into everything even if we don't want to, even consciously. Did you ever think that you don't have to be so clever to work and earn money because it is why this system is build for?

Normally I would have hated working fifteen hours a day, but this week I loved it.
Normally I would sleep eight hours a day, but these days I can't. And again, normally
I don't like to hear my dog barking, but now it feels a bit comforting, not all the time of course!
What do you think defines our normality, which day is normal and which one isn't?
Life changes constantly and gives us new experiences. Each day is different than the other.
Normal would be my strong side, but still not enough.

Even when I complain that all I do is work, I assure you, that it is the life that I have prepared for myself. I believe that perfection comes when you spend the most time with certain matters. I don't believe in doing many things at the same time, you will fail all.
For a long time in my life I have rejected relativity. I always thought that my inner voice was strong enough and capable to understand, know and decide for everyone whom I look into their eyes. Why do you keep on living the way you do if you have control over your life?

If an human being built this system and it has more than one hole, at the point of breakdown, why do we still accept it? How did we learn to settle down? Do you remember choosing a job, acknowledging that it is not good enough in ways that makes you feel its job is done. But you make sentences including 'at least'. Do you hear it? AT LEAST. So, that would be your last choice but somehow you stay there. Why? And why do you keep asking why? Where does is bring you? Maybe you are programmed to ask this question and the others are programmed not to ask it. The thing is you are programmed either way. By whom, God? And if God created you, remember that we are talking about a superior force, something that created the whole universe, and we are working our assess off to create a stupid computer program for years, so that much powerful force develops a program to kill itself. Do you hear how stupid it sounds? You create something that harms you.

So the question is who?
Who runs your life?
Who runs your city?
Who runs the country you live in?
Who runs America?
Who runs McDonalds, Starbucks, CocaCola?

Just Do It, Still The Perfect Slogan!

How do you look at a statue, from below, above?
Why and when people started to make them, what do they represent?
Immortality, God? Something superior of course.
But what is statue anxiety, and who is your boss really?
I'm sure that most of the times, in your head, you've had the misunderstanding of a person,
rather than who she or he really is, instead you have the image that has been given to you. And again, you don't look at them long enough to take out their mask. I came to understand that when people treat you in a way, when it's the only way they could feel superior of you is when they aren't. Next time, look into their eyes a little bit longer, to see what's going on. They are worried that you are going to see right through them. They have certain body movements, anxious, sudden movements. You will see, very easy to identify. When you do, you know inside that you are very safe where ever you go, that you are the one who doesn't need a box to hide, the only boundaries you have are your own decisions for exploring and they are very wide.
You have the light inside, you don't need to look for it outside.

Desire on the other hand, my desire for wanting to explore life more real, is endless. How can you expand your world and hope and wait for something to happen at the same time? There is no pause in life, we humans have become automatic in life because of our habits; our body movements, our daily routines and hope is a disease in them. What do you do when you have the feeling of hope inside yourself? You wait for something to happen. But nothing ever happens magically if you don't do anything, about anything. Universe keeps expanding, but it isn't something outside of you, it isn't apart from your body, it is in fact, you. Use it by choosing
the way you want to go. Experience variety of emotions, positive thinking is very limited. The world that you live in shouldn't be your dreamland, all you would be getting is disappointment.

It is important that we use the word with its accurate meaning.
Do you know what a witch or a wizard is? It feels pretty magical when you've seen it in a movie

In reality it goes like this: When you look back in time, to certain peoples imagination, who directed big movies or wrote great books that impressed you, you can see that those things really happen. These people try to insert some knowledge in your brain, in your universe. And when time passes, technology develops and our minds open a little bit more to new information, you become the impressive character that once amazed people. But for some of us, information has been downloaded already, and we need to use it in any way that we can.

Too disturbed is how I feel.
This weekend I found myself looking into the crowds, but I wasn't in them, I just stayed back and watched from distance. Zoomed out. I saw piles of clothes in sale which people seriously ran and almost kicked each other to buy. I saw pony riders in a mall. Are we that far from nature? I don't think so. We are creating a generation that will possibly have a small time with nature. Even when people have the chance to introduce their kids to the forest, the sea, god at least some air, they draw them into shopping malls.
You know when you meet someone and either you are good at analyzing people or your intuition is high, you come to a conclusion which would be that he/she is not good enough for you. Than you meet other people, you come to the conclusion that they are not suitable to be even around you. At this point it is very dangerous to go back and re-analyze the finalized situation. Because it is the very fragile moment of you, that you met the realities of yourself.
So the question is what do you really need, in order to be happy?

What Survives?

Love is only beautiful and logical when you love yourself. How do you go through hard times and how do you treat the ones around you, that are most close to you?
Do you abandon them or choose to stand behind them, get bored so easily and pick another amusement?
Loyalty, I find very respectful. It means that you have chosen someone, not by luck, by decision and you had the courage to see yourself through their eyes.
No matter what happens you stand beside. How many could your heart and soul pick?
Apparently to slugs and snails love is a dart game, actually it is sex but just to give the interesting information; the arrow of Eros isn't his to give, so don't blame him. It's the hermaphrodite Snail's. It has a dart that shoots while the mating process happens. (The Valentine's Day symbol; heart and the shooting arrow has been gently stolen from them) And its not for making the partner to fall in love all over, it is for being more productive.
So get busy, since global warming and mother nature's been pissed off at us we need a stronger generation, you know, for the stronger ones to survive.
We shall see.

Seven Billion Live On This Planet Yet We Are Still Capable Of Felling Lonely

What we all ,thinkers, philosophers, curious investors of a deeper understanding of life, always talk about, scientists prove for us. Philosophy needs knowledge, and the other way around.
Familiar to some of us, but could not name it just more than ten years earlier, our second brain. It is located in the abdomen region and covered with hundred million nerve cells. It carries through ninety percent of the nerve cells from the gut to the brain and believed to the contrary, it is the main control area. An average persons digestive system carries thirty ton of food and fifty thousand liters of liquid. This multitude of neurons in the enteric nervous system enables us to feel the inner world of our gut. It's the most intense and sensitive organ in our bodies. Babies eat, drink and digest and it is the first connection they make with the outer world.
Babies have the right to burb but what about us? Why do we eat and drink so much that we can not digest? Evidently our bodies need more free space to create energy to help process the feeling part to send the signals and let it decide, but we decide without letting ourselves feel because we fill it instead. We are in complete accordance with ourselves if we let life rule and remind you that nothing is to be scared of, only to wake you up and shake you.

To every strong living creature who sometimes has doubts about themselves, about their thoughts, intuition, capabilities, their own spirits. The original spirit always had hard time finding a place not in this world but in this society (perfectly knows where it fits in nature or naturally), because he always knew he did not belong there. He did not belong to where he was put, he belonged to where he wanted to be; where he wants to go.
In tough times, that's when he starts to have doubts about himself and that's exactly the time to be reborn, not the time for having second thoughts.
Imagine when you were first having such pain, before realization, you didn't know where your intuition would take you. If you knew, you wouldn't resist that much, you would let life make you stronger with all the unbearable pain and loneliness, to help you see that you aren't actually lonely. Life wants to take you somewhere, go with it. There is no such thing as unhappiness or sorrow, it only occurs when you are detached from your spirit. So when you think you aren't walking with it, go back and own it, it's yours!
Just as you think you have forgotten it, you might have actually internalized it.

Love, Work or Your Choice of Whatever

I've been thinking how existence fulfills our needs and how it doesn't fulfill certain expectations.
My boss told the motto of his working yesterday: "Never get satisfied, don't settle for anything less than you would like, always ask for more." That is exactly what I love about myself and it is the reason why I particularly wanted to work with him, from the beginning.
Wanting for more isn't always greed, some people actually like progress and challenge. I always write about challenge but how good am I really? This is another question I ask myself everyday. How well did I do for myself today, did I run from any responsibility or was it a day of real hard work, both mentally, physically and emotionally. If the answer is yes than I'm very satisfied for the day. Now, should that one day be enough for certain amount of time? No! Because every step you don't take forward, is a step you take backwards.
About the certain expectations; they are only fulfilled only if you fulfill your own needs, your priorities.

Travel, Always travel, With The Ray of Light!

It is officially summer now, when it stops raining it will be even more hot. Well I'm not sure if I will ever know because I work like a bat in a very closed studio. I have looked and still looking for a perfect, new, undiscovered place -only undiscovered by me- to see.
Today, finally after a while,with my rather reasonable departure from work, I went to relax, and there I saw a travel magazine. Looking through it I found an article about traveling. You know how they always say 'it's not the destination, it's the journey' , it was talking about it in a manner that I hate actually! I have experienced the term every time I've been there, whether its in my mind or while I'm actually physically traveling. But the important subject for me is, it being new. Brave people always intend to travel to new places in every states of their minds and it always brings new challenges. I know that you've heard how many times that you couldn't do it, or it is impossible, or that you are being arrogant, selfish, you shouldn't have spoken that highly of yourself. Well you should and you will!
Never underestimate your power, your courage, your sight of what is real.
There is not a more powerful pleasure than knowing in your heart that you are at where your soul wants to be.

Scepticism

I know that this will be an indefinitely ongoing discussion but just to shed some light on the subject, I would like to write about scepticism. I did not know the meaning of the word until I read the book: Why is there something rather than nothing? Questions from great philosophers.
Sceptic, by popular meaning is a person who has doubts about. But in ancient times, it was the name of a philosophic therm, someone who examined things carefully, someone who believed in living with serenity and who doesn't question much since he believes that knowledge can not be acknowledged. But saying that knowledge can not be known is a knowledge in itself. Therefore it has its own contradictions. From where I see it, even sceptics 'know' our need and desire to understand the universe that we live in, whether we like or not to like! No one can really be sceptic to the core, only can be less curious, because it has no core in its own, it needs other reinforcements.

When you are willing to know the truth you will find that it's always there. In fact, if you ask why, just the minute start sensing, you'll get your answer. And soon, your brain will work faster and your feeling process will happen after your thinking (logic).
Illusionists (optimists, pessimists, dreamers, believers, non-believers, ideologists, fanatics) you suck, reality wins.

Determine a beginning point, in your mind plan it to where you want it to go, get prepared for it. That's how I plan my life. But there are gaps in between. I always have the strongest words for life and I feel them when I say, never making anything up, walking straight ahead.
Today I realized the gaps: I sit in those comfortable chairs for quite a long time, makes your ass look bigger. Who would want that?
So I here is a different formula that might work: no formula, plan your life anyway, always let life interrupt you, make your ass smaller.

I started a new project that I need to push myself into, it's long term and it needs determination.

Paris Je T'aime

It's the middle of the night (pour moi : 12:29) and I feel very sleepy. I just watched another movie which I found bizarre, it totally deserved the meaning of the word.
In my mind, I just picked the pieces that I liked and whatever pieces I chose love came together, but in the way that you feel in the movies, not in real life. I feel that kind of love less and less and I think the more I want to experience reality, the more that feeling will dissolve like it does in anything. I never thought that people really make a choice of seeing. You can wander around dreams all you like but in the end life will wake you up. I mean whatever you choose something will always come up to hurt you, and you will blame them in the beginning but when you understand, when you remove the curtain, that it's not him or her, its you hurting yourself, you won't feel pain anymore, it will feel really peaceful, like a deep breath. That was how London felt for me. I did not care about style or second hand clothing which I rush to buy every time I go, or the night life which I never managed to experience almost anywhere, or the cool people that I'd died to meet.
You take yourself to where ever you go with the feelings you try to run away from, even in holidays and no matter how long they last. That's the beauty of being yourself, you don't need to hide.
Where is the next stop, I'm wondering?

From My Time

While you're trying to make a perfection of something, "perfect" things in their time can be forgotten, makes me want to ask, what is considered as time? I read once, Victor Hugo said; If a writer wrote merely for his time, I would have to break my pen and throw it away. What about images, since the technology is changing and developing constantly, how do we not evaluate them in their own time and what kind of "time" is that? When we look at a photograph that was taken twenty years ago, we can judge it by the technique of analogue film cameras and the printing techniques which takes reasonable "time" in photoshop now. But maybe our perception goes to another level, we judge it by the feeling it gives us. How can a feeling be defined by time? If you don't remember a feeling, it means it dissolved, it doesn't mean anything to you anymore. Anything that you define by time would not give you real satisfaction. Eating fast due to your lunch hours, your meeting with a friend in a definite time cause you need to go somewhere else, a definite time of world traveling. And anything you do with love takes indefinite time, that is real, that would spread and cover the entire universe, which is yours, definitely!

Let yourself be the "devil" instead of letting it get to you. Responsibility is firstly for your self. Always act from these questions: What do I want? How would I feel? What should I do? Selfishness is cursed by the society, why should you think about the other person when he is not thinking for himself, isn't that a weakness? It is always harder to follow your feelings, even harder to act from them, but that's what is takes to be a great potential. Say no when you need to, that's love, not doing something for the "other" person that you wouldn't want to do. That would be blocking your new life experiences and his.

Cliche

If it is overused, why do we keep repeating it?
Why do we cover it with a new image and renew, rename it, that way the idea is the same but the image is not. This is worse, at least a cliche claims to be honest. When we learn to use anything in the best way, it does not matter what it is, it's perfection. Sometimes even cliches can be things we need to open our minds to. There could be a day, probably too soon, that everything is said and done but the originality is in the way we do it. We keep repeating the same mistakes until we learn them. Does it matter that you learned before me or that I have learned before you, or faster, or slower? Each one of us have our own pace and if that includes being cliche so be it. Perfection surrounds whatever is already happening in life. We all crave for it and we need to fight for it.

Better Late Than Never

Snow came a bit later to my blog then to the real world. Some things are learned rather slowly, because of the resistance that one has towards some things. You see what you need to do right in the beginning of the subject but the image of the thing seems much more appealing then the issue you need to deal with. So you go to the wrong direction even if you know that you'll be making a turn back. If you are making it for the first time, fine, go get hurt, go wake up, but when you are making if for quite some time, you become an expert and that should be the last time, hopefully. No need to become expertise on the subjects that will teach you to set boundaries you need not to have. We all need boundaries, our time, our limits and our freedom, but we don't need boundaries towards ourselves.

Being a Woman / Being a Man

We don't come to this world knowing how to be or how to love. Love is a natural feeling
that is instinctive in wild nature, but we humans should learn on the way of life that it is learned. We have to learn that we don't own the other person, that we are only responsible from ourselves, and should be ourselves full and complete. Surely we often get hurt on the way since pain is the best teacher of progress. We learn by the circumstances that are given to us by life, by choice we become who we really are. First we grow old enough to be our child, then to be our adult. Appearances can be very deceiving, once you learn to see the person behind her cover you know whom you actually meet, just give it some time to unfold.
Seek for the truth only and you will find it. Don't loose time, because time is energy which lies behind the appearance.

What's The Rush?

How would you describe the word experience?
It's neither a negative nor a positive word, a whole in itself.
The only important thing for the action itself is to live without judging it.
We only become closer to ourselves thus to each other only by experiencing what
is there for us. You would know that by going there with slow progress. I always remember
people telling me how hard life is, but I say it's never hard, most of the time challenging.
Hard: when there is a bit of a tooth paste at the end of the tube and you try to squeeze it.
Challenging: when you know you need to let the tooth paste go and pick another one, and
you need to go somewhere else far away to pick it.
Experiences are not hard life lessons, they are the passion to live truthfully where there is no
shortcut for life.

I was walking through Istiklal Caddesi and I saw this small stage with no one inside and very loud music. I mean really loud that I wanted to cover my ears. It was the first day of Istanbul 2010 so I thought it had to be a part of it. I waited there for something to happen but nothing did. Then I waited more, to see how other people are reacting to this. Is anyone looking, staring, staying there waiting for something to happen? I assume they hid a camera somewhere inside to see us. Another behaviour pattern: behaving in a way as if someone is watching you. Some of us think about it during the day. Maybe there's a camera that's following me, paranoia. Or even think about someone that you want to be followed by, admiration. All of these, I believe, comes from distrust for life. It really does not matter how others see you, or realize how you behave. What's important is that you behave in the way you exactly feel like.
In that way only, you get to develop real relations.

First of all it remains a certain mystery. And when I walk around with my camera people
cooperate with me. Like the waiter who stood and waited for me to take the second photograph for five minutes and he was really patient. Secondly when I am interested in a subject I make people around me feel comfortable. I don't usually talk or say something, just a comforting smile, or a look in the eye is enough.
And my last but not least discovery is the new neurons that help us experience other peoples' experiences thus make them our own! Yes. that's right. Our capacities of evolving are getting faster. Remember how you feel when you see someone eating a rat (not a regular turkish meal) and you see the awful look in their eyes. It is the time now that you taste it without actually eating it. A Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy

I haven't done much research lately and I thought it would be new to do some exploring about the Vikings. The word Viking originally comes from an Old English poem used as 'wicing' referring to pirates, used as an activity in 9th century. So "go viking" actually meant "go barbar".

The word disappeared in Middle English and was modified and sublimated into Vikings in 18th century as heroic group of individuals (barbarian warriors and noble savages). Draw attention cleverly to the words: a group of heroic barbars!

In 20th century, the word was not only being used for 'raiders' but also for the entire period; it is now, used for Scandinavian population in general. There is no explanation how the entire generation became barbars though.

It is important that we learn the actual meanings of words. Information is not knowledge, Einstein said. It is always important to evaluate the information that you learned into knowledge by experiencing in life, like using the right word at the right time in its real meaning. I know that it sounds very simple but it's very sharp at the same time. It doesn't matter how many books you read, read only with your heart not with your mind. The the only guide that will take you somewhere.

Limits That Rule Our Life

Last night I watched a documentary about dolphin hunting in Japan. The main guy in the film was a former dolphin trainer. He worked in Flipper for ten years and he wasn't aware that he was holding another creature captive. He just cared about how much money he made and what assets he had. 35 years after that, now, the is the most passionate Dolphin rescuer. While I was watching the movie, the one thing that I analyzed about this man was the sadness of the years that he couldn't take back. And that will never go away. Once you develop a certain survival way through life and you get comfortable in it, you keep on going in spite of all the alerts that come to you. And years after that, when it becomes unbearable, you have no choice but to go back. It's the exact story of the airplanes that can't go back after crossing the middle of the ocean, because fuel isn't enough, you can only go forward. Now I should ask myself, and you of course, who would want to become that way?

A sunday, had breakfast and spending time at home. Looked at my sister and Emrah. They looked like a photo opportunity right across the room. I told them to stay put and I took my camera. As you can imagine I don't keep it in my hands all the time. I don't know if it's just me but I feel very distant to the subject even though I am "in" the place and photographing it. Sometimes it's hard for us to be objective when we are in the middle of something. We can't really see what there is, we tend to see what we are looking for, what we crave for. When our perception foils our eyes, it's not possible to experience something real.
I wonder, If I didn't say that I was at home would it be possible for you to think I that was somewhere else?

Does Not Matter If You Are Not In The Zoo, You Can Still Be In A Cage

I went to the zoo several times.
I could imagine how the animals would look like, i went there to investigate how. Now, lions looked like birds and birds looked like depressed people whom were talking to themselves. Not that everyone who talk to themselves are depressed, but I saw that they developed a way to learn human behaviour. Whatever the creature is, we tend to develop certain behaviours from those whom we mostly spend time with. I guess one plus one equals to two rule doesn't count in philosophy. Weak nurtures from weak and strong nurtures from strong but not necessarily they add up together.
Behaviour can be very complicated, it is very important that we spend time with creatures that will add up to us, whom will make the best of "I". It doesn't matter what others do, judging them, telling yourself what they did or didn't do won't take you any further. Only doing what you do best will, wholeheartedly and most importantly with pleasure!

How Life Revolves Around

When you are too small and everyone is so big and interesting, it is understandable to be that much depending on your gods, (mom and dad) fine, but what happens when you are the parent?
You are God and you behave as curious as a baby towards your baby. It is never understandable for someone who doesn't have kids, and less understandable even for a father maybe, cause they don't carry them. Much pain, much pleasure for the mothers. What I'm curious about this time is the life's circle. Something you are real deeply interested in, feels the same way about you. That should be one of the universal laws. When you are meant to live something, you live it.
There is never something that you "should" do, all you have to be is natural.

What's The Difference?

At first I thought what a ridiculous poster. I shoot it because my aunt's name is Tamara. And it seemed so funny to see the same name who is the exact opposite of someone I know.
And now that I've uploaded it I am thinking about the people that actually go to the concert. Maybe next time when I find something like this I will go to the concert and will make a research. One can imagine of course, but what is imagining besides really experiencing something?

Nature In The City

As you can see I am determined to urge my experiences into you. I don't give up easily, I force people to learn what I have learned, I can even be short of breath when people don't understand what I am trying to tell. Determination on the positive side, blocking on the negative side. Doesn't depend on how you look at it, depends on how you are willing use it.
No matter which laws you put on what to do, what not to do, Mother Nature's are always and will be stronger.
Life will give you what you need to experience no matter what you do in order not to get it.
When you know something is going to change and you feel scared, try to suppress, it will always come back to you again and again. You can never hide from life. If you are a walking death, that may be an exception.

Today I am aware that it is taking too long for me to finish a project. The only thing I should do is take my camera with me everyday. But I say to myself, I'll take it tomorrow. I must do something that will motivate me and it should only include me, to be independent. I am realizing more and more everyday that the life of western civilization is very unhealthy. You work in order to build a life and when you realize you are too tired, feel too heavy, you are "successful" but too unhappy and you see that it is too late. Since I realize it now, there must be another way, there has to be! I don't think that one should go out and live in nature, it takes courage too but it is an escape and it won't last long, trips would not last long either, you'd get too tired, too bored again. There must be a way that also challenges me and makes me happy too, should include having to spend more free time on my own. I am hundred percent sure that if I keep on working the way I do, I won't be a happy person. It is challenging and good now but there is a limit. And I know that when I pass mine I am not myself.

It is understandable why life revolves around their parents when we think about enormity. Imagine that you are 70cm tall and all you do is eat and breathe and watch, mostly people around you. It is most possible that either your mother or your father has already been chosen God. You don't need a religion to pick, milk is blessed, you can whine all you want, nobody can be too mad at you because you are too adorable. And cartoons: they were a big part of my childhood life, I used to wake up at 6 o'clock in the morning, and on the weekends! I shot these and I thought: I have nothing to write here today. Let's search quotes on rain. Some of them were about rain being as needed as sun, sun shine in, whatever. I wrote about how I believed in contradictions, no need one more round. So I found this quote about poems. I never really understand poems, infact I never really understand a topic by its title, something is only meaningful only if I can relate it with its owner. Right, owner. You have to own your work to make it perfectly understood. And when someone makes it about being the 'artist' he lowers his value as a human. That's why I loved this quote very much. Dark Day

I find it interesting when people are their own captives but find it easier to blame someone else. And it becomes easier when you consider yourself a part of a group, you can easily choose a leader and hide in the background. Look at the city. Look at its accordance with nature. For couple of years people are starting to wake up to the fact that there is global warming and it's time to stop consuming and building so much, stop harming the earth. But some people are so clever to find ways out of this. I don't hold people responsible who can not see, but those who see and hide, that's the exact definition of hatred for me. Now, I don't say that we stop consuming and start living in the wild, that will happen when it's time anyway. I say that when your insinctst tell you to do something do it. There is no such thing as pity in nature. Have you seen a tiger that's so sorry to have eaten that deer? But I'm sure you have probably seen it sleeping in the zoo. Think about it.

Fun ride on the way to work, Maslak traffic is terrific.

My work place is moving from Cihangir to Maslak this month. And I live in Ulus. It is a nice ride
for me to go to work from Ortakoy. Buses are never too crowded and I almost get some fresh air on the way. Anyway, to test the subway in the morning, I went to Levent and the result seems like a pain in the ass. I always mutter a little, and I hate it when people see everything so positively, the sun does not shine everyday and its a fact, at least pessimists have a down to earth side! But this is really three hours every day, imagine how fun its gonna be.
And the good side: New and bigger studio.

My Dog Had Surgery two weeks ago. When someone from my family or someone who is as close to me has surgery I try to stay close to them. I get very curious when sickness or death appears around me. Of course it is easy to mention right now because he is fine, but he is getting older. We are used to believing that death is the end of the road.When someone close o us dies we were made to believe that the healthier way to deal with it should be; crying, never to forget about them, never being happy again, even when someones says 'Be strong' they will judge you if you are happy with someone else after your wife's death. I remember when our doorman's wife died two years ago. She had leukemia and I had known her for sixteen years. When I heared that she had the disease, I felt that she was going to die. At her first months I kept a little bit distance from her, it was strange watching someone you know for a very long time get weaker. And again it wasn't as hard for me or as painful for me as it was to her family. But I tried to spend more time with her. She always said to me that there is a timing for everything, that I am young and I should have good time, when I get older I will have more responsibilities and everything should happen at the right time or else I won't be able to enjoy any of them. I very much believe that, I'm really taking her advice.The point is; I tried to be close to her because I wanted to know what was going around in her mind, how was she really feeling. I know that when something happens in our lives that seems so dark at the time, can be a healing to our souls, our brain resists to the experience most of the time, because it likes safety and stability. And unknown new horizons are never safe. They are either scary or exciting, painful to accept and knew to learn. I thank her for the experience.

What's the difference between shooting with a gun or with a camera, what are you pointing at?

I'm not going to talk about how dirty the lunapark was, or how I don't even like the term victim,
not to mention it's the name of a "holiday". I am only focusing on the term 'shooting'.
I was talking with a friend of mine about how easily I shoot the balloons one after the other
without stopping and how easy it was for me. She told me that she thought it was because
cameras teach us how to do it. It teaches us how to point. I think that its a very interesting theory. Both gives me the feeling of being in charge.
Many photographers say that they take photographs because it's a moment you want time to stand still. Since that never happens, you want to keep that moment for yourself, whatever the reason might be. And that's a way of trying to control time, or maybe trying to manipulate how reality works in one's brain. Reality never changes, the things are just the way you see objectively. But when you are holding a camera, the viewer only sees what you want them to see. And you don't go 'mmm what do I want the viewer to see today?' It's just when you're walking around or when you are picking a subject, you choose the things that interest you, that concern you. So I think if you are honest about what you do, what you shoot is reality, it's not the whole but it is a part.

Old Lady Issue

Third Day: It seems like my subconsciousness works faster then my consciousness.

much, because men are easier to communicate with, for me.

As we all know, time is relative, according to Einstein's theory. But everything else is as we see it.
It just is. I wasn't thinking about anything to right here, even named the series as 'Add to a set'. But, as I uploaded the photographs, I thought, these are related in style (of course, same person took it, but even that is an accopmlishment : ) they just get colder as scrolled down. So for 30 days I am going to take random photographs and make them sets without thinking, just intuitively. And see what they mean when looked together. It is a bit of a psychology test for myself. I wonder what you think when you see these together?

Hale is a friend of mine whom I worked with for a year. She is a photographer. We went to the same school, without knowing during school years. I met her when I came to interview in Utopia. After the meeting I found myself, a bit uncomfortably, in the same room with her. You know the feeling of something being first in your life. I felt pretty confident during the intervew but after that I was suddenly in the room alone, with someone I just met. She was pretty cool and we first started talking about school, like most people do when they discover having something in common.
Now she has left working here for a better place for herself and I am sitting in her old chair writing these.
I can't say how strange life is and how things turn around, because at this point that's exactly what we are used to hearing. Life is not strange and mysterious, maybe you want certain things to be that way, to keep it exciting. But when you get to know yourself a little bit better while growing up, you know the things that challange you, also the things that you need, like you know that if you are going on a trip to Hawaii, you'll be wearing a swimming suit.
The only thing is, it may not suit you, so better be in the right place.

Mouth Wide Shot - Eyes Wide Open

Thinking how to upload my next series to my blog with a text that's been missing since my 15th one, I decided that I should have a portrait pool which I would upload everytime I shoot, with my analog SLR camera. Photography is a medium where the mouth shots and the eyes speak and the viewer follows. I never do that, neither in my blog nor in my daily life, believing a photographer should view from within outward, does not mater text incuded or not! But I tought, to have a continuous language does not need to have a text involved as long as you develop it for yourself, without forgetting, with always challenging yourself. So, I decided to keep my mouth shot and let the viewer follow this time, for this is what life brought me this time.

Veronica Decides To Die/ Veronika Ölmek İstiyor

I was reading a book of Paulo Coelho. Veronica is a twenty-four year old woman who decides to end her life with taking bunch of pills. Not by jumping off from a bridge or cutting her wrists. Will her family mourn over their daughters loss, or have a hard time identifying her body? Or the nuns would have a hard time while cleaning the blood covered room. Toughtfull girl.
Veronica lives the same life everyday, thats why she decides to end her life by taking pills. She thinks that life is not worth living and she feels proud and happy that she has the courage to do it. But when she wakes up, she finds herself in a mental hospital.

I went to Lale Müldür's house for photographing an interview for Agos newspaper. Our subjest was insanity. My result: people who name theirselves normal, wander around in the limits of others, who are excessively appropriate for the society, are fitting in the role of being "normal". People who have their own boundaries are named insane and they will be deported.

Rita is my grandmother who is 85 and makes a living by herself. She gives english and french lessons and has students of a wide age range. She was born in Istanbul from a Jewish family and never went to school after primary school. She had a tutor at home and she learned to be a teacher with her own inner motivation. Her motivation was having a difficulty. She has one finger in one hand and three in her other hand. She always tried to hide it from people saying it was a disability, but thinking the abilities she gained from it teaches me once again life is always fair to us. The choice for her was hiding herself from the society, or putting herself out there and living even more willingly. That is courageous for me.
While I was shooting her she would tell me "why are you shooting me, there are millions of nice flowers and trees out there?" and I told her that it was more beautiful for me to share this reality which I believe more people should see.
I believe that life is never too hard for people who choose to live.

I believe that a human being should live with consciousness. Rather then not eating meat at all our using products which use animal testing, I am against us living without knowing what we are doing, what we are harming and in which ways. We eat that meat but we don't know how animals have been killed. When we cut a little piece of our finger it hurts too much and it is very fragile but we have the right to kill another kind of being. And when someone tries to inform us about it we choose not to listen to it because its bothering us, we even do not have the toleration for this distress. But sometimes reality means we need to be bothered for our eyes to open.

Every human decides what to do, what not to do, what to eat, what not to eat with their sensibilities in life, I say just make your choices knowingly.

The Fountainhead presents the ideal world. The ideal world where man reach the highest limits of their capacities. With these ideal men, a real world has been created. Most people may consider this as an illusion because of the word “created”. But the biggest common mistake to see the reality as an illusion. It’s a mechanism of people who ignore the real world, who sees things like they are, and, not as they ought to be.
As Ayn Rand states; The man is a noble being. In this case we can talk about two kinds of men. A man that creates, and men who nurture from them.
The man who is creative is powerfull, lives for himself, seekes his own happiness, works hard and does it in the best way. He doesn’t get swept away by others. He is the man that fights till there’s no blood left in his vessels.
One of his hobies isn’t donating for charity but is to do the things that he actually enjoys and satisfies himself. In collectivist thoughts, all these things are the product of arrogance and selfishness. It is not considered for a man to live or think for himself when there in so much to do in this world we live in.
To live and think for yourself would not be a point of issue if every man had nurtured from their own fountain.
The second man, is the man that nurtures from others. Eighty percent of this world consists of them. They are the ones who are real greedy and selfish, in the meaning as used frequently in public. The defenders of collectivism, the killers of individual. They say that they dedicate their lives to humanity and helping people. What they actually do is imposing a combination of irrational words which seem very complex and completely make themselves look like they were intellectuals and supress the individual soul, the original thought. These people have their own sencond-handers. Without their second-handers they could never survive. The problem of the second-hander is that he is without his ego. The reason of giving their burden to someonelse’s shoulder is because it is always easier to give excuses like religion or society to be closed to other ideas in life rather than discovering their own capacities. They choose to be indolent, and get on with their lives.
The reason for me to visualize this book ‘The Fountainhead Character Book’ is not just simply to humiliate the second-handers and glorify the noble man, but it is also to make people realize their own capacities and power.
Ayn Rand states in the twentyfifth year anniversary edition; Many people ask me how I feel about the fact that The Fountainhead has been in print for twentyfive years. I cannot say that I feel something in particular, except a kind of quiet satisfaction. In this respect, my attitude toward my writing is best expressed by a statement of Victor Hugo: “If a writer wrote merely for his time, I would have to break my pen and throw it away.” This book may have been first published in 1943 but it presents a whole new ideology if you consider that mankind exists for thousands of years.

Coincidences or Synchronicities?

I met Leyla while I took a walk with a friend who happened to be her friend. We walked through the seafront and she was sticking her painting's stickers to anywhere she could possibly do it. And I was impressed she could do it so naturally. It was the act of being herself and doing what she would like to do that made me want to know her better. So in May 2008, I shot a short documentary at that time of her life while her birthday ended and her friends made small handmade objects as pesents and her rather big solo show "Perfect Moment" had begun. I believe that everything happens for a reason in life. Not like in the movies where everyone finds a stupid happy ending, but really from life itself, with its pain and dissapointments, happiness, whatever comes. And meeting her took me to Galeri Splendid so far. Who knows where else and whom else.
